My Old House

We have been in our new home for almost 8 months. I absolutely love my new home. It is perfect for our family. It was a 3 year on again, off again search but we found it. I will, however, always have a soft spot in my heart for our old home. This was home to me for 10 years...We moved here when Matthew was a year old. I brought both my girls home from the hospital to this home. We have so many happy, happy memories in this house.

In our new home, I have started a little mini-makeover in our kitchen. Just a few things to make it ours. We gutted our kitchen in our old home about a year before we moved. I loved my old kitchen and I am copying some of the ideas from my old kitchen for my new one.

Here is my old kitchen. It's hard to tell in the pictures but my colors were cream, taupe and light blue.

My new house is less than a mile from my old one. I hate when I drive by my old house and all the blinds are pulled and the lights are off. I want to see what they have done with the place. I love driving at night when people have their lights on and the blinds up, you can get some great decorating ideas that way!

I love to wear brand new pajamas. Sometimes it's the little things that make us happy!

Hello Monday!

I love a weekend that is busy and fun. Friday night was our annual tail gate party at our kids school. Everyone parks their cars in a circle and opens up the back ends, sets up their tables and have drinks and dinner. Dan insists on beer and wings for tail gating. He also finds it so funny that we tail gate when there is no football game.
Saturday was the float trip. All and all it was a fun day, but after 10 miles of rowing I couldn't get home fast enough. I needed a shower and a deep tissue massage. Libby and I came home after floating but the boys stayed and camped. At 3 am when I heard the massive thunderstorm come through I just snuggled down in my bed, smiled and thought "Damn, that really sucks to be camping!"
On Sunday, Libby finally had her birthday party with her friends. 6 little girls had a "spa party" with manis, pedis, facials, hair and make-up. Now thats my kind of party
After Libby's party with her friends we rushed back to our house for her family party.

Pinyata time!
after the pinyata broke, it was a big free for all. After dinner, dessert and presents everyone called it a night and went home.

And because our weekend was non-stop, this is what my house looks like today.A & E will be stopping by later today to film an episode of "Hoarders, Buried Alive"

Deliverance

Dan and I are taking the 2 older kids and going on a float trip with a couple other families on Saturday. We will be "floating" on a river in the middle of nowhere about 2 hours outside of STL. In honor of our day, Dan is making me watch this movie...I think this movie is so disturbing, especially considering the fact it was made in 1972. This is absolutely the last movie you ever want to watch before driving yourself into the woods miles and miles away from civilization. I can't even post the worst clip, but if you watch this movie and here the words "I bet you can squeal like a pig" you are there!

Yeah!

I always love looking out my front door and seeing this....In my house we refer to this as "the present truck". Well the present truck paid me a little visit last night. Last week my friend "Cool Gal" was having a giveaway and I won (yeah!) Inside the little box that the sweet fed-ex man gave me was this....
Auric Blends perfume oil. I love this perfume for so many reasons. First and most importantly is the scent. I have "Egyptian Goddess" and it smells so good. I am horrible at trying to describe scents. I read descriptions like, "a hint of jasmine" and " grass weed mingled with the nectar of the orchid" and I am like "huh!" anyway it is a very sweet scent. I also love roll on perfume oil, I feel like the roll on oil stays with you much longer. Finally I love it because it comes in a little 1 fluid oz bottle. Anyone who has ever had a bottle of perfume confiscated at the airport because they forgot it was in their carry on can really appreciate this!!

You can find this perfume here

Thanks Cool Gal!
xoxo

When the cat's away, the mice will play

Saturday night started out innocently enough. After spending Friday night at a carnival with 3 kids and no hubby, I thought it was best to spend Saturday night with my friend, whose husband is also in Vegas, and no kids. My plan was to have a very casual night; movie, dinner and home in bed by 10 pm. My friend Sarah and I caught the 6:30 show of Eat, Pray, Love and then the plans changed from there.I think the problem was, that at this particular theatre they serve wine. After our second glass of merlot Julia Roberts had just arrived in Bali. I have read the book and knew we had a ways to go before the movie ended. At this point, the movie was dragging and I was starving. I had made reservations at my absolute favorite restaurant and I had been thinking about the food at this restaurant all day. I did not each much on Saturday because I saved my calories for dinner. We left the movie about 30 minutes early and decided to walk to the restaurant in the hopes we could be seated early.
On our way to our restaurant we passed a cafe and my next door neighbor and her hubby happened to be sitting outside. We sat, chatted, had a glass of wine and the next thing I knew, it was 1 am and I was doing this.
I was in no way dressed to be out in the clubs dancing at 1 am. I had on a long tank dress and flip flops, movie going attire. Everyone else had on stilettos and sequence. We were dancing, singing and pretty much annoying everyone else, but we had a great time. I am a big fan of the impromptu nights, they always end up being the most fun! Now my sitter on the other hand, not a big fan. I woke up this morning STARVING, never made it to dinner.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

Famous last words my husband said as he headed out the door on his way to Vegas for a guys weekend.

While my husband will be doing this....
I will be doing this with my kids.

And yes, the traveling carnivals are just as scary and shady as you remember. I will be putting my children's lives in these guys hands as I load them up on the ferris wheel.

Lord help us!!

Underneath it all

These, hands down, are the best panties of all time. There are some occasions that call for a thong, but on a day in and day out basis, the "On Gossamer Boy Shorts" simply are the best. These panties are practical yet you still feel sexy in them. No panty line, no pulling and creeping up in unwanted areas, and you can find them on sale at nordstrom.com

Today must be a slow day if I am blogging about underwear!

Success!

We had another beautiful weekend here in STL. Friday night was very successful in my pursuit of people watching and finding art work. My friend Sarah and I drank some wine, ate some sushi, and bought some art. Here he is.......This is very different from anything I have on my walls. This is actually 3 dimensional. The blue box in the middle is a cut out and the little man head is a ceramic figure. He is wearing his heart and underneath it says "exposed". I don't know what is was about the creepy man (maybe the wine) but I was drawn to him, so now he hangs on my wall.

Sweet Baby Girl

8 years ago today, this sweet baby girl became a part of my life, and I have never been the same.
I remember every detail of her delivery like it was yesterday. I remember the day before she was born walking around town having contractions. I remember telling my husband (who is an OBGYN) that I knew I was in labor, he didn't believe me because I was about 10 days early. I remember waking him up at 1:30 in the morning to go to the hospital. I remember once getting to the hospital, having my epidural and feeling settled I was rushed back for an emergency c-section. I remember never being so scared as I was at that moment. I remember crying uncontrollably when I found out we had a perfect little girl.

Here is that little girl today.
We have a big day planned. Libby has her first soccer game this morning, then we are off to The Ritz for tea, then to the spa for mani's and pedi's. In the evening the whole family is going out for our favorite pizza then back home for cake and presents. The perfect day!!

St. Louis Art Fair

This upcoming weekend is a big weekend. The second weekend in September is the St. Louis Art Fair, one of my favorite weekends. This is a weekend long event. On Friday night, I am heading to Clayton (the part of STL where is art fair is held) with some of my friends. There are street vendors selling their art, live music and entertainment, wine and food tents, and all around great people watching.
Saturday and Sunday during the day, they set up an art tent for children. Last year my kids made paper maiche vases, art books, clay pots, puppets, and a bouquet of tissue paper flowers. We won't make it to the art fair on Saturday because it is a little someone's 8th birthday and we have lots to do, but the plan is to spend Sunday afternoon at the fair with the kids.

This is the first year that I am actually on the hunt for some art. I hope I am not too distracted from all wine drinking and people watching I plan to do!!

On a side note, 2 more giveaways to check out.... Go to "its the world I know" and enter her give away for a Starbucks card and a fabulous fall candle.
Also check out "kitchen belleicious" and enter her give away for a chance to win a fabulous piece of jewelry. Good luck and if you win you must share your prize with me!!

Oh What a Night!

On Saturday we had our first party in our new home. It was an absolutely beautiful day, sunny and warm, and by the time the party started at 7:30 it was 68 degrees. The perfect night for hanging outside on our deck, cocktails in hand, having fun with our friendsScarlett before the party trying to get some food.
Me and my sweet friend Megan
My fun, crazy neighbors! I was friends with these girls before we moved, but now I love being next door and around the corner from these two!!

Everyone had a great time!

Apparently as the night went on and I consumed more drinks, I suddenly became an awful photographer. I don't even have 1 picture of me with Dan. I guess we were both having way to much fun to focus on taking pictures. I paid, and I paid dearly for all the "fun" I had Saturday night!

Summer is officially over.

On a side not, I found out today I won a giveaway from my friend Cool Gal! I am so excited, I have never won anything. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket
