A Trip Down Memory Lane

Somehow, last week, Heather and I were discussing this shampoo. This sparked my trip down memory lane and all my favorite products from way back when....My very first deodorant was Tickle. Pink and roll on...

After a shower, everyone would put on a little Jean Nate after bath splash...
My very first bottle of perfume was Loves Baby Soft...
then I moved on to Charlie...My snack of choice was always Idaho Potato Sticks....
that I would wash down with Tab..
I know someone out there remembers all this goodness too!!

My Friend Kate

Girl Friday

My boys are off to Notre Dame for the big game, so it will just be me and the girls this weekend. I have a very kid friendly weekend ahead of me. First up, I think I found the 1, still in existence, roller skating rink. I am taking about 14 girls roller skating tonight. And yes there will be a chilled bottle of chardonnay waiting for me when I return...
Saturday evening I am taking the girls to Boo at the Zoo. Our zoo is all decked out with pumpkins, witches, and anything spooky. The kids wear their costumes and can trick or treat throughout the zoo, oh and of course we can see all the animals...

The boys should be back by Sunday afternoon, then I am officially off duty for the rest of the weekend. I am meeting a friend for a much needed massage...
Then off to Flemings for dinner...Did you know they have a 99 calorie or less menu?? I love it when a restaurant makes it so easy for me!!
Have a beautiful weekend!

Little Black Clutch

I have an auction in a couple of weeks to benefit my children's school. This event happens every other year and is one of my favorite nights. I am a big fan of auctions, it is a great alternative to raise funds instead of just asking for money. Anyway, this event is always held in a hotel ballroom and this year the theme is "Roll Out The Red Carpet." With that being said, I started thinking about my outfit. I am pretty sure I am wearing a black strapless, simple dress. My outfit needs a little something so that is where the jewelry and accessories come in. I was in Nordstrom yesterday and stopped in my tracks when I saw the most perfect clutch..
What I love about this clutch is that the gold rope chain is actually about 4 feet long, so you wrap it around the clutch about 3 times to close it. How crazy is that!!

My store was completely out of black, but my friendly sales girls took care of me and my clutch should be here in plenty of time for the big night. Now I just need to find some earrings...

It's Not Too Early!!

Every Christmas I love to give my neighbors/mailman/milkman a little gift. In the past I have done everything from ornaments, to cookies and candies, to candles, to mini live tress. I started to think about what I was going to do this year and was stumped. I hate to do a repeat gift yet my creative juices were not flowing. In comes pinterest. I stumbled across something that I think is not only so cute, but who wouldn't love this, especially anyone with kids...

Peppermint Popcorn Bark.....
2 bags of microwave popcorn, popped (about 18-20 cups)
1 (6oz) box of candy canes, crushed
1 pkg of almond bark
1 tsp of peppermint extract

Place popcorn in a very large bowl (the biggest you can find). Pour crushed candy canes on top of the popcorn. Melt almond bark according to instructions on the package. Add the peppermint extract to the almond bark and pour over the popcorn. Stir until all the popcorn is coated. Pour popcorn on wax paper and allow to harden. Once the popcorn has hardened, break into pieces and enjoy!

you can deliver your popcorn in these adorable and inexpensive bowls from Pier 1....

or Target.....
it's never too early!!

The Devil Wears Chanel

Back in 2006 when I first saw "The Devil Wears Prada" I was in heaven. Anyone who has the slightest interest in clothing, shoes, jewels and handbags realized this was the holy grail of movies about fashion. One of my favorite looks was when Anne had on a beret, long sleeve white blouse and a short sleeve black sweater. I love the look, but I just could not get over her Chanel necklace. I love, love, love it....Christmas will be here before we know it, so I thought I would help out the hubs and maybe drop some hints as to what I would love to find in my stocking. After going to Chanel's website I found a few pieces that made me drool.

Holy Moly!! Could you image wearing this!! Amazing, and you can pretty much guarantee no one else will have this on..or even this..
a more subtle look, a Chanel cuff

My absolute favorite look would be to layer this necklace...with this one...

and finally this one...you know that can't be good when they don't even post the pricing on their website!

Sweet Tooth

We've had an abundance of these in our house.....I got out my favorite apron....
made my favorite apple pie....

and topped it with my favorite ice cream....
Caramel Apple Pie
2 ready made pie crusts (I mean, who has that kind of time to make them from scratch)
8 apples, cored and sliced (I like gala or red delicious)
1/4 c sugar
2 T flour
1 t cinnamon
1/4 t salt
2 T butter, melted
1/3 c dark corn syrup
1/4 c brown sugar
2 T flour
2 T butter, melted
1/4 c dark corn syrup
1/4 c chopped walnuts
Arrange apples in a pastry lined 9 inch pie plate. Combine sugar, 2T flour, cinnamon, salt 2 T butter and 1/3 c corn syrup; pour over apples. adjust top crust on top of apples, cutting slits for steam to escape. Bake in a preheated over at 425 degrees for 40 minutes, or until crust os browned. Cover rim of crust with foil if it browns too rapidly. Remove from oven. Combine brown sugar, 2 T flour, 2 T butter and 1/4 c corn syrup. Spread over pie and sprinkle with nuts. Return to the oven for another 5 minutes.

Enjoy!!
