Wrap up and Resolutions

We definitely had a December to remember.

We started off the month with our annual trip to Silver Dollar City to see the lights.
I have said it before, and I will say it again...if you ever have the opportunity to go to Silver Dollar City in December do it!!  It truly is spectatular and it will just make you happy, I promise!!

We decorated gingerbread houses

and checked out our competition around the city

not bad, but I still think ours was better.

We went to the Wild Lights at the Zoo

had a Christmas tea with our American Girl Doll

baked some cookies

went ice skating

saw Santa at the symphony, and heard beautiful music

and had a great holiday.

Now that the decorations are down, the kids are back in school, and the new year has started it's time to work on some resolutions

*Read, read, read-this is on my list every year but the benefits from reading; knowledge, vocabulary, intellectual curiosity, improved concentration, I mean its almost like free therapy.  I get my best recommendations from friends, here is what I hope to read in 2016

any other recommendations??

*travel every change I get
Don't you love a resolution that is pretty damn fabulous.  I have been working very hard on this one and have a few trips already lined up

*Try one new restaurant a month- I feel like I already do this, but now that it is official I really have to dine out a lot.  It is a win win for everyone, I get a great meal and the chefs/owners are getting business, just doing what I can to support my city.

Looks like I am good through April

*Have one on one dates with my children and my hubby
family is everything, right!!

and one last one for good measure
*go to the gym- does it count if I already do this??  Is it still a resolution??
I am not going to lie, I am in it for the cute clothes

Happy 2016

Random Ramblings

Class pass has come to STL, this is a great opportunity to sample all specialized gyms in your city without any type of commitment.  You're just dating the gyms, not marrying them...
on our list we have yoga, spinning, bar, pilates, cross-fit etc.  Buy your monthly membership and use it at every gym on their list, definitely the most bang for your buck!

So you bought that gym pass and now you are going to ruin all your hard work with your sweet tooth?  I made these greek yogurt muffins,  (much better for you then the muffins the size of your head from Panera)  and they have just enough chocolate to satisfy.

I bought this cleansing water the other day at CVS and I love it

use it like a toner, after you wash and before you moisturize.  It was only $8.00 so it was a no brainer.  I will try just about anything to keep my skin from drying out this time of year.

The hubs and I have been meeting with an architect to expand our kitchen.  I LOVE my blue kitchen and want to keep it blue so I found a few (hundred) pictures on pinterest but these are my favorites

I think I need one of these for my closet...

because every time I pull out a dress and it's all wrinkly and needs to be sent out to be pressed is about an hour before I plan to wear it.

Just finished reading this book...
Loved it, and it is historical fiction.  I had no idea there was such a thing as orphan trains.

So over winter, snow, coats, boots and anything that has to do with cold weather.  19 days until we are here

I also hear that Mexico is lovely this time of year!!

This and That

I cannot believe the school year is over in less than 2 weeks!!  I for one am ready for the end of the morning rat race, the homework, and the after school activities.  I am ready to spend my days lounging poolside and my nights sipping cocktails on my deck!!

The end of the school year also means that us moms are really busy.  There is always so much to do with our kids before the school year ends, I have hardly anytime for anything else.

Monday night I did have a chance to make this healthy banana chocolate chip bread and it was amazing
my family gobbled the entire loaf for breakfast on Tuesday morning.

My oldest child is graduating 8th grade (yikes) so I have been busy planning a party for a bunch of 14 year old boys.  We have decided to do a burger bar

as a surprise for all the boys we also have a game truck coming

Today I am letting my daughter skip school so we can have a special day.  On her to do list..

and

I have my book club (wine club) tonight and we are discussing one of the many great books I have read recently

and finally my daughter was so busy on Mother's Day making me bath products.
Hand made gifts are the BEST, plus girl knows the way to my heart!!
