Party Time

I am co chair of my daughter's school auction on November 2, the theme of the auction is "A Night in Paris" so it couldn't be more perfect in my opinion.  Every night my mind is racing with fun ideas, party favors, and possible auction items with a Paris theme.

This Saturday one of my besties is having a party to benefit the auction.  She is having a cocktails, dinner, and dancing all under a tent in her backyard, the deal is that instead of bringing her a hostess gift you make a monetary donation to the school and we will use the money to buy something for the auction.  The money we raise on Saturday is going towards an apartment in Paris for a week,  the hubs has been well informed of this.

I am in charge of the dessert table this Saturday, thanks to good ol Pinterest my job is considerably easier.  In honor of Paris, I am sticking to desserts that are petit and mainly pink.

Champagne is a dessert right?

I love planning a party!!

Sassy Pants

Last week I had a really fun night out with the Fabulous Four.  We are always looking for something a little different then the typical dinner and drinks so we headed to the Central West End to make perfume, and had some fun at Cassie's Scent Bar.

First, we poured the cava

then we spent the next hour trying to concoct a personal perfume by smelling essential oils and trying out different scent combinations

every time I thought I had the perfect combo, I would smell another oil then change my mind

I finally had my scent

we all had to name our perfume, this is something that is not so easy when you have to do it on the spot (and you have had some cocktails) but I came up with "Sassy Pants"

Afterwards, we doused ourselves with our new signature scents then grabbed a late night dinner.

Another fun night out with my girls!!

The End of Summer

The summer of 2013 was a good one for us.  I am always a little sad when September rolls around and it is back to the grindstone.  But as they say, all good things must come to an end.

Hopefully these pictures from our summer of fun will keep me warm and happy in February.
another anniversary with the hubs

ice cream pretty much every night

just chillin with the kids

Michigan

And what I always miss most about summer
sitting outside, sipping champs, people watching

Girl Friday

The first week is down with all 3 kids back in school and I am FINALLY starting to get back into our school year routine.  I must admit I already miss not having to set an alarm, our lazy days spent poolside, and staying up way too late.

We are spending our last weekend of summer at "heaven on earth" according to my hubs, or Notre Dame to the rest of the world.

My 2 nieces just started freshman year at ND so we will meet up with my sister in law and her family for a little pre game tailgating

then off to watch the game

I actually enjoy watching the hubs show us around campus telling his stories from when he was a student at ND.  He gets very animated and I see the sparkle in his eye.  He loves ND.  If anyone knows a graduate of ND I swear they are all the same, they loved their school, they still talk about it almost daily,  all other schools are average at best,  and of course the football team can do absolutely no wrong.

The old ND joke applies...

How do you know if someone went to Notre Dame??

Don't worry, they will tell you!!

Have a beautiful weekend

Pig Out

Sunday night, the hubs and I headed downtown for a food lover's event.  Cochon 555 made its way through STL and we ate and drank ourselves into a happy stupor.

If you are not familiar with Cochon 555, it is basically a bbq cookoff.  5 chefs are invited from the top 5 restaurants in the city, each chef is given an entire pig and they have to create 5 dishes.  If you love to eat then you would be in hog heaven (ha ha)

The food was amazing...

and the signature drink of the night (and apparently the perfect pairing with pork)
a manhattan

The finale of the night was when a local butcher was brought out this

and we watched him butcher the pig

by the end of the night all that remained of porky was a little bit of bacon

It was such a fun night, this was my father's day gift to Dan way back in June, and he LOVED it.  The one downside, overindulging on pork and bourbon is a really bad way to start off the week!!

If Cochon makes it way through your city, you should definitely go
