Hits and Misses

The night of nights for fashion was May 7th at the Met Gala, or the fashion oscars.  This was a night of glitz, glamour and high fashion.  Some girls were an instant hit, while sadly some just missed the mark.

Diane Kruger, the belle of the ball.  This dress is amazing, I wish she would have done something feroish with her hair...

Camilla Belle, just got everything right from her hair, to her dress and her lips..

Bianca Brandolini D'Adda, love the cape (thanks Gwyneth) and the studs are gorgeous.  I love the simple black and white choice of Poppy Delevigne...

Every day I go to the gym and flip tires just to get Kate B's arms, and Solange is a knockout in her peplum dress

Of course we knew that Gwyneth would be a hit and I am dying over Chloe's Miu Miu frock...

Now on to some of the misses.  It kills me that SJP is on this list, but really....what was she thinking.  I am pretty sure the curtains from my childhood room are the same fabric.  That reminds me I should call my mom and see if someone broke in and stole those curtains...

Elizabeth Banks, Hunger Games is over...the odds were definitely not in your favor on Monday night..

Kirsten, when you are young, rich, and beautiful Hillary Clinton should not be your style icon!

Love

I am always motivated right after the holidays to de clutter and purge clothes I no longer wear, organize what I want to keep, and make a list of what needs to be added to my wardrobe. I came across this picture and it immediately went to my "I Need" list...I love the red tights with the red skirt and the camel shoes, and the tribal necklace is to die for!! This would be such an easy outfit to duplicate, and this girl looks so amazing.

Stepping Out

We've had a mini heat wave here in STL. Temperatures are back in the high 80's. The last tease before the cold sets in. The warm temperatures in mid-October make it very hard to dress. It's officially Fall, yet by mid afternoon I am ready to jump in a pool. These photo's taken of an uber stylish girl in NYC last month, have me drooling over what I want to wear...

the hair, the dress, the shoes, the jewels, the Gucci bag.... it's all so fabulous!

Celebrity Looks

Last week I did a post featuring your every day, non famous, fashionable New Yorker. Today I have a few pictures of your not so ordinary, very famous, fashionable New Yorker/Londoner/ LA girl.

Only SJP could pull off a leather dress...
and mixing bright red and bright pink.

Orange is not a color I would normally consider, but Gwynnie makes it look so amazing. And finally my girl Nicole, I am in love with this whole boho vibe. I would look absolutely ridiculous with a hippie headband on, but she looks so darn cute
All these ladies are my inspiration to put on something cute everyday!!

NYFW Picks

Another NYFW has come to an end. In case you missed out, photos from the shows, celebrities sitting front row, and scenes from the after parties are all over the internet. My favorite picks are actually not from any show, and not a celebrity or a model. I loved seeing the shots of just a stylish, non famous woman walking the streets of NYC. Here are my favorites...

the skirt, amazing...

the belt, the coat, amazing.....the leather shorts, love them!!
I don't know if I could pull off the leather shorts, but if anyone wants to try....
get your hot shorts here!

It's Not Over Till It's Over

Summer is not officially over yet, but once we hit Labor Day I start getting ready for Fall. My summer whites, swim suits, and flip flops are moved to the back of my closet until next year, and out come the boots, and sweaters. I always find "Indian Summer" a tricky time to dress. It is still warm in STL, yet I just can't seem run around in a bright print Lilly dress anymore.

This is how I like to dress this time of year, a light dress, in warm tones, paired with boots...
perfection!

Glow

I know it is not New York or Paris, but tonight there is a St. Louis fashion show...Many local boutiques will be featured at tonights event. I am grabbing my girls and heading downtown for a night of fashion, friends...and some late night cocktails.
I feel like a single gal again...heading downtown on a Thursday night!!

Ra Ra Rachel

I first heard of Rachel Roy a few years back when watching "The City." Olivia Palermo went to Rachel's studio to pull some pieces for an Elle spread. For me, it was love at first site. Rachel designs jewelry, clothing, and shoes, all which I think are amazing. Our Macys here in STL has a very limited supply of some of her goodies, but you can find most of her loot here. I am not a big Macy's shopper, but anything for you Rachel!

Just to tempt you, here are a few of my favorites from her jewelry line....

and from her clothing line.....

Yesterday while passing by Macy's I stopped dead in my tracks when I spotted this dress.....and now she hangs in my closet just waiting for the perfect night out!

Lovely Lace

Lately I have been drawn to lace. I love dressing up a lace top with skinny pants, leggings and skirts, or going a bit more casual by pairing a lace top with jeans. Here are a few of my favorites...

BCBG Maxazria

RED Valentino

Free People

Ella Moss

Tory Burch

Me and Dan last week before heading out to dinner
My lace Calvin Klein top and what Dan refers to as my "muppet vest"

Skirting the Issue

The New York Times did a feature story on the hot piece for Spring...the maxi skirt/dress. Stylish women all over New York were photographed wearing the latest trend, and in my opinion, looking absolutely fabulous.
I love this casual maxi skirt from Splendid,
and for those of us with deeper pockets, this Leifsdottir number would be my splurge.
Only 20 days until Spring!!
