This and That

I cannot believe the school year is over in less than 2 weeks!!  I for one am ready for the end of the morning rat race, the homework, and the after school activities.  I am ready to spend my days lounging poolside and my nights sipping cocktails on my deck!!

The end of the school year also means that us moms are really busy.  There is always so much to do with our kids before the school year ends, I have hardly anytime for anything else.

Monday night I did have a chance to make this healthy banana chocolate chip bread and it was amazing

my family gobbled the entire loaf for breakfast on Tuesday morning.

My oldest child is graduating 8th grade (yikes) so I have been busy planning a party for a bunch of 14 year old boys.  We have decided to do a burger bar

as a surprise for all the boys we also have a game truck coming

Today I am letting my daughter skip school so we can have a special day.  On her to do list..

and

I have my book club (wine club) tonight and we are discussing one of the many great books I have read recently

and finally my daughter was so busy on Mother's Day making me bath products.

Hand made gifts are the BEST, plus girl knows the way to my heart!!

Randomness

My sister has gone back to Detroit so things have calmed down for about a New York minute around here.  Tomorrow morning I am taking off for Michigan with the kids so I have some serious packing to do.

With my mind racing with what to pack, I also have random thoughts filling my brain.

I am kind of digging this new show.  I know women are upset that there is a show that glamorizes being a mistress, but I don't think this show makes it pretty at all.  In fact it is sad, lonely and pathetic but still good to watch

I made the slow cooker chicken philly sandwiches last week and they were delicious.  My sister and I are always joking that we need to create a board for pinterest called "Meals I made that taste like crap" this one would definitely NOT be on that board

My birthday is this Sunday, just a few small things I want...

this karaoke machine is the best, my friend has it and we spend hours and hours singing.  This playlist is endless and it is all current songs, not the best of Patsy Cline

I also need a new camera bag, this one keeps catching my eye.  No matter how you slice it a camera bag is big and bulky, but this one seems to do the trick and still looks a little stylish

Randomness

I have been hearing about dry bars for months on end so I was thrilled when our first one opened a couple weeks ago in STL.  Last Thursday I went with some girlfriends for a blow out, a braid and a glass of champagne before the Madonna concert.

Thursday was such a crazy day I did not even have time to get a decent picture of my hair, but let's just say I loved it and not I am hooked.  I think I am well on my way to becoming a bar fly (ha ha).  Here I am on the right with my head band braids of hair at a bar before the big concert...

and while we are on the subject of Madonna, can I just say I was so underwhelmed at her concert.  I was expecting so much more from the queen of pop.  There was no energy and I felt like she really did not interact with the crowd.  At one point I took a look around me and people were SITTING DOWN, that is never ever a good sign.

I am thinking this table is exactly what my kitchen needs...

My new favorite TV show is "Awake" so clever and it actually makes you think...
Please tell me someone else thinks it is so obnoxious that Kim K's "good deed" was to donate any money she received as a wedding gift to charity. Here is a thought, how about return the money and let the rightful owners donate to their favorite charity, oh and let them get the thanks and tax write off, not you Miss K....

Vacation Day

I am forcing myself to stay home today and get some thing done around my house. First up, I will actually enjoy a cup of coffee instead of gluping down my starbucks as I am racing through Target...
put some finishing touches on my decorating...address my Christmas cards...
wrap my presents that absolutely need to go in the mail this week...
dig out my bikini...

start packing for our Christmas in Mexico...

and enjoy the holiday season...
