The Calm Before the Storm...

Today my sister and her family are coming to STL. They are staying with us for the week....I am down to the final hours to clean, stock my fridge, finish shopping, wrap, get our holiday outfits all lined up, bake, oh and pack for 5 people for Mexico. I would love to have everything done by the time I pick up my sister from the airport so I can relax and enjoy this week...

And I'm off

Nutcrackers and Nordstrom

I am definitely getting all my Libby time in this weekend. This afternoon we are going to see the Joffrey Ballet preform the Nutcracker. I remember seeing this ballet every December growing up with my mom and sisters. This ballet is at The Fabulous Fox Theatre. This venue is so beautiful and so ornate. The deep red velvet and gold leafing and detail work is beyond amazing. It will take your breath away.
After the ballet is the long awaited, coveted, Nordstrom Christmas party.
I will spend too much money, eat too much food, drink too much wine, but I will never tire of Lisa Evan's images she designs for Nordstrom. So beautiful.

Caroling, Cocktails and Jewels

Tonight, with Libby and her Brownie troop, I will be Christmas caroling. As a child, I remember going caroling every year. I also remember our doorbell ringing, and a group of people on our front porch singing "Silent Night." I didn't really think people did this anymore, but if you live in STL and your doorbell rings around 6 pm be sure to answer!!

After caroling, and after Libby is back home I am stopping by my friends house for a cocktail/jewelry party. My Uber-talented friend is showcasing some jewelry she had made. She loves to use feathers in many of her pieces. Each piece is one of a kind, and a show stopper, nothing is mass produced.
I really need to come up with a talent!!

God Bless America

The tree burn from last year. July 4, 2009

This week, like the summer, has just flown by!! Today is officially our last "girls day" because tomorrow morning we go and pick up our son. I am so excited to see him, I really missed him. We will just have a lazy day at the pool today, I had a late girls night out last night with my friends so I am a little tired. You know those babies are like alarm clocks, they wake up at the exact same time everyday. (around here it is 6am) They don't care how tired their moms are!!

Our 4th of July will be a fun day. We have a little neighborhood parade which I am excited for, this is our first 4th of July in our new home. After the parade we will go to our pool for a party then off to some friends for a bar b que and some fireworks. My night always ends the same way. One of our friends collects everyone's Christmas tree in January, stores them in their yard, then on the 4th we burn the trees in the street. I know it is silly and probably pretty dangerous but the 4th just wouldn't be the same without the Christmas tree burn!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.
