Slippery Slope

I have mentioned in the past that it is time to move my youngest out of her crib and into a big girl bed. I have been dragging my feet because I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Over the weekend I promised my crib to someone that is expecting her second child in April, that was just the kick start I needed to make up my mind. My 2 girls share a room, one is in a twin bed and one is in the crib. I went into this project thinking "replace the crib with a bed." Top of my list was the day bed with a trundle. I just love this look....and they can pull out the trundle when they have sleepovers...
of course this picture of 2 beautifully appointed twin beds caught my eye. I love how they are perfectly balanced in the room. I started thinking, would my girls room look off kilter with a day bed and a twin bed?...
throughout this process my older daughter was pestering me about getting a bigger bed with a canopy...
I had one of these growing up and I just loved it!!
So now I have a full size canopy bed being delivered for my older daughter and still a crib for the younger one. Isn't it funny how decorating your house can do that. You start a project that snowballs into a thousand other things you want to change.

Oh and I am still on the hunt for a daybed

Usually, at least 1 person blows me away at the Oscars because of a total amazing look. Last night, I saw many pretty faces and looks that I love but no one completely blew me away.

I thought Jessica Chastain looked so lovely, she is my new favorite actress. I don't love the dress on it's own, but she made it work...

Girl Friday

I love a fun filled weekend and that is what we have. Tonight, I am my friend's date at an auction, and I just love auctions...I keep teasing Dr. Beautiful saying I am coming home with one of these...

Saturday night we have some friends that own a duck club an hour outside of the city. We are taking a bus, along with 19 other couples, out West...where our gracious hosts have a 7 course dinner planned for us in the clubhouse...
the attire for the night is "camo chic" so I think this is what I am wearing, my JCrew camo pants, a sparkly Joie top and sparkly Kate Spade heels...

Sunday we have the whole day free so we are taking the kids about an hour North to the little town of Alton, Illinois...

this time of year people from all over come to the great river road to see the bald eagles. Alton boasts the highest population of eagles in the country. The birds arrive in December and stay until March, it truly is a beautiful sight...
after all our hiking and bird watching I know we will be hungry so we will grab some barbecue before we head back into town...

Local Love

Once a year, my friend likes to throw a "local love" party....She finds local boutiques and hosts an after hours private party with wine, cheese and 20% off your entire purchase. This year she found 3 boutiques....


that all happen to be on "boutique row" ....
I am excited to find a new outfit for Spring break....
and after our boutique party, we are going to take over our favorite local bar...
let the shopping begin!!

Miu Miu

When I first saw these Miu Miu booties I was smitten...when I saw them paired with a dress, I knew I just had to have these. Unfortunately the $890.00 that Saks wanted in exchange for the booties was a small problem...
I came across a similar pair by Steve Madden for a fraction of the cost. I am not sure how I feel about these, once you see an exquisite pair of shoes it is hard to fall in love with a copy cat...

I can decide when they arrive in 5-7 business days. Me-ow!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, ours was definitely fun filled! Saturday night we headed downtown for a Mardi Gras ball to benefit the hospital where Dr. Beautiful works...

Our night was filled with good food, yummy cocktails, fun friends, late night dancing, and incredible entertainment during dinner....
We had a great night...On Sunday when I was finally ready to start my day, I wasted the better part of it on pinterest, I came across this and it just made me laugh...

Girl Friday

Tonight, my brother, sister in law, and nieces are in town from Cincinnati so we have a big family dinner...
Saturday night, Dr. Beautiful and I have a black tie ball. I love going to black tie events, seeing my man in a tuxedo, the opportunity to get all dressed up, finding the perfect dress, accessories and hairstyle, and of course people watching...the ball is at my absolute favorite spot in the city...
and I am sure on Sunday I will be doing a lot of this...

NYFW

My favorite part of NYFW is not seeing the models and the runway shows, I know they will look stunning, but I love the street shots of stylish people in NYC. These women are my inspiration for putting together a fabulous outfit. For these women, the sidewalk is their catwalk.
